My earliest construction story begins when I was three years old and my father was building a bar named "Beanie's Steak House & Hide-a-way" outside my hometown of Villa Grove, Illinois. My job was to pick up bent nails and scraps of wood and then use a hammer to drive the nails into the wood. Well, as the story was told to me, I eventually scored a direct hit with the hammer on my thumb. I ran around the building 3 times holding my thumb and then sat down and started driving bent nails into scraps of wood again. So began my life's work. I learned my work ethic from my parents and grandparents. My grandfather was a dairy and grain farmer who spent his retirement years helping my father build various projects. My father was not a builder during the day. His day jobs varied - from farming to auctioneering to trainman. I was taught that working 40 hours a week will get you by, but to get ahead in life, I'd need to work another 20-40 hours a week. This is still the way I work today. I've been in the remodeling and construction business since 1975. From 1975 - 1980 I worked for Branson-Markstahler Construction and in the summer of 1980 I built the Courier Cafe. From 1981 - 1994 I worked for Tom Wisegarver and Jerry Ready. In 1994 I founded Darcy Bean Custom Construction. Construction is all I have ever wanted to do and I do it wih a passion! My philosophy is to work hard! It is very important to me that my customers are very satisfied with their project. I put extra time and effort into my jobs to make sure this happens. A large percentage of my business is repeat customers and referrals from previous clients. I have found that putting extra time into doing the job right is the best advertising that money can't buy. I will work hard to provide you with a completed project that both you and I are proud of. |
